Garderning & Dessert-ing with Sobhita (2024)
India is the second-largest market for tech giant Google. With their artificial intelligence chatbot, Google Bard (now Gemini) wanted to capture this large population of early majority tech adopters. The task was to win mindshare and eventually drive usage for the product in an environment where our competitor ChatGPT was synonymous with all things βAI.β
So we got Sobhita Dhulipala, a young and critically acclaimed actress to introduce Bard to India by incorporating its easy-to-use interface to complement her hobbies. The tech industry rarely shows women in its advertising, especially in product feature-led comms, so this was a brave choice which was rewarded with a braver organic reach of almost 9 lakh people. For a field as sexist as artificial technology, which only has 22% female representation, Sobhita becoming Google Bardβs quasi-ambassador bode well not just for the brand, but the industry at large.
